Setting Up a Freebie Email Sequence

Setting Up a Freebie Email Sequence

Large Call to Action Headline

Today I’m rewriting another email or two in my welcome sequence, as well as a bit of the first one that I’d already thought I’d finished. You see, I picked up a new tool that helped me craft a new freebie – one that I like better than what I was originally going to be giving away – so the email required a bit of tweaking.

Is it bad that my customer avatar is basically me? 😅

Spoiler: No, actually it's great, because your business's customer avatar should ideally be a person who's several steps behind where you are. That way you're far enough ahead of them that you can help them move forward, but not so far ahead that you can no longer relate to where they are. But I digress...

Moar Sidequests!

Speaking of digressing, I had LOTS of sidequests today. Too many to list, probably because I started my day by floating. It’s always difficult to wrangle my attention after doing that, but it’s also important to allow my brain to do that at least a couple times per week.

I also had to watch the replay of Sage Grayson's Planning Pajama Party (only available to her Life Editor Academy members), because I try to never miss her energy whenever I can soak it up!

What the Heck is "Floating?"

I honestly have no idea where that term came from; it's just how it feels to let my mind wander around freely. Maybe because I most often do it in a horizontal position? For example, sometimes I do it in place of a nap on a workday, but more often it's something I allow myself to do first thing in the morning, because that's when ideas tend to flow most freely.

Something about the calm relaxation of just having slept (and probably the processing that I do during sleep) makes it easier to let my mind wander to places it doesn't usually go during the structure of my everyday life.

I've also called this "zoning out" and "woolgathering" at various times, but for some reason "floating" just seems to fit better. 🤷🏻‍♀️

What's in a Name?

You'll find that I call a lot of things by different names from a "normal" person. For example, I don't have "brain dump" pages in my planners. Who wants their brain to take a dump? 😆💩

Instead I like to call it my Incoming! page, as it's where I capture all of my incoming ideas. And boy, can I fill one of these up after floating for a bit!

Anyhoo, that's it for today. I hope y'all are having a great weekend!
